“AB-RA Groove” combines Ballet fundamentals, Contemporary, Improvisation and Hip-Hop’s rhythmic precision focusing on articulation of movement, flexibility, strength and dramatic freedom. 

Suitable for intermediate – advanced dance students and professional dancers.

Abdur-Rahim was born in Philadelphia, PA. He received a Bachelor Degree of Fine Arts from The Juilliard School and performed as a Principal Dancer with The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater for a decade. He serves as a Rehearsal Director for Rambert Dance Company in London, has taught master classes at Kansas City Ballet and the International Dance Association in Ravenna, Italy; was a Guest Teacher at Steps on Broadway and Broadway Dance Center and was Adjunct Professor at Marymount Manhattan College as well as Assistant Ballet Master at Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet. Abdur-Rahim choreographed “Witness Uganda” a Documentary Musical in Los Angeles and “Soul Doctor” A Broadway Musical Tour in Jerusalem as part of the Israel Festival. He has created ballets for Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Kansas City Ballet and Orlando Ballet. Abdur-Rahim choreographed sections of the Beyoncé “Crazy in Love” Super Bowl XLVII Halftime performance on CBS and Co-Choreographed the Beyoncé “Halo” music video. He has directed fashion/dance shoots for PAPER Magazine and VIBE Magazine. Abdur-Rahim has also choreographed for Taylor Dayne, The Salt-N-Pepa Lane Bryant Campaign, Hair/Fashion Award Shows for JCPenney Salons, ULTA Beauty and Matrix (a division of L’Oréal) across the US and Mexico and Staud New York Fashion Week Show.
