‘Técnica Cubana’ or Afro-Cuban Modern dance, blends North American modern technique and European classical ballet with Afro-Cuban rhythms and dances. With the pulse of the percussion beat, class begins with a warm-up focused on contraction, release, and undulation techniques followed by across-the floor exercises which are fundamentals of traditional Afro-Cuban folkloric dances as well as choreographed combinations.
