This class comes out of years of research in contemporary ballet and somatic practices. Ottmann has a reputation for bringing contemporary concepts to the ballet class in an engaging and productive fashion. He uses interesting exercises to create connections and push the boundaries of the physicality and articulation that can be achieved in class. Dancers often remark how they learn things they had not considered before or that they gain a deeper understanding of their bodies and technique.

Live pianist: Erik Geddis

An alumni of Canada’s National Ballet School, John Ottmann‘s career spans 3 decades as a performer, choreographer, teacher and with a Master’s degree in dramaturgy, he has worked in the studio and theatre in a variety of capacities.

Additionally to his ballet teaching, Ottmann has developed a method for dancers and choreographers of all styles of dance that is physically and mentally rigorous and provides tools to deepen their work. In 2018 he was invited to present his “Constellation Points Method” at the Brain, Body, Movement and Cognition conference at Harvard Medical School.
