Dancing Divas and Dudes with Stacie Lowell
No experience needed! Students will learn through observing the teacher and physically participating. I break down the warm-up and explain the choreography/patterns. I will provide feedback throughout the lesson while the student is engaging in the exercise. The student can raise their hand and ask questions to the teacher between each exercise. Class will include a 5 minute introduction into what we will be learning today, 40 minutes learning patterns and styling while dancing, and a 5 minute Q&A with the teacher to recap what they learned that day in class. The students will learn basic Merengue terminology and dance patterns.
Each class we will explore a different Latin dance (rumba, cha cha, salsa, merengue, and samba). We will first learn the rhythm of each musical form and the footwork that goes with it. The patterns for the feet are different with each style of music. Building from basic footwork, we will add turns and styling. Styling is what makes Latin dance fun. When dancing alone or with a partner, we want to see your personality. Styling consists of arms movement, body isolations, and improvisation.
“Local Time” is the time zone approximated based on your physical location.
