“Fusion of Movement” with Zoe Rappaport, Global Dance Club
Fusion of Movement is an experimental movement practice drawing on elements within modern/jazz/blues, contemporary, hip hop & one’s own style. Space & time is given to both choreography & improvisation within a structure with emphasis on rhythm, energy, connection to music & expression. Get deeper into who you are as a dance-artist, find freedom within your own movement voice and let’s dance together in community.
BIO: Grounded in the belief that movement was born to bring people together and communicate beyond words, Zoe was mentored from a young age by world-renowned choreographers including Adrienne Hawkins (Impulse Dance) and Jimmy Locust (Paula Abdul, Michael & Janet Jackson). A hybrid dance-artist, Zoe has performed the work of choreographers including Sarah Elgart/Arrogant Elbow, Kathryn Posin, Mecca Vazie Andrews, Billy Siegenfeld & Jeannie Hill (Jump Rhythm Jazz Project). Over the last 14 years, she has worked with some of the top names in live production, tv/film, editorial, fashion, commercial, content creation and site-specific work in NY & LA. She has worked as a movement director & choreographer for a diverse array of acclaimed artists and brands including Grammy award-winning electronic artist ZHU, Estée Lauder, Vidal Sasson & Katie Grand’s “The LOVE Magazine.” Her own multidisciplinary performance work has been performed at venues throughout NYC & LA while her debut dance film “Unspoken Words” was featured in Dance Magazine.
As an interdisciplinary artist, Zoe has worked across many fields & platforms behind-the scenes from fashion shows for Hermés to television shows like So You Think You Can Dance and America’s Got Talent. She currently works as the Creative Director for Dance Gap Year & Global Dance Club, as well as Associate Producer for Sarah Elgart’s Dare to Dance in Public Film Festival, an online film festival dedicated to democratizing dance so that it may be performed not just in studios & theaters, but in the public realm.
