Sep 16 2020

Eastern Time
12:30 pm

Class Description:
Improvisation for Developing Protagonism is an opportunity to collectively research and practice becoming the subjects of our own stories in direct support of our movements for liberation. Participants will experiment with movement improvisation, somatizations, reading and discussion to develop skills in self awareness, vulnerability, and empathy – skills to prepare individuals to act as protagonists in our collective story. In each class there will be invitations for dancing, witnessing, feeling, and trying hard for oneself and for others. This class is open to all abilities.
Amal Rogers makes dance performance and facilitates movement education. She is based in Miami, FL and has lived in Oakland, CA, Chicago, IL, and Minneapolis, MN; where, in addition to dancing, she practiced bodywork and organized with her communities. Amal has earned degrees from Mills College and New College of Florida. She has presented performances in all the places she’s lived, some places she hasn’t lived, and on the internet. Amal is proud to organize with (F)empower, to sit on the board for Art For Ourselves, to consult with Kaafi Counseling and Kaafi Consulting, and to be a parent.
Payment for class is $1-35. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. If you would love to sponsor another student to take class, simply double your payment!
