Welcome to the Yukio Suzuki Dance Workshop LIVE !

We invite you to the special workshop by our guest : Japanese choreographer, dancer : Yukio Suzuki .

Theme: From Butoh to the transition to contemporary dance.
“What is dance, what makes you dance? Butoh always asks me about that question.
Butoh has many hints for exploring your body. I use butoh’s idea and method which I learned from Ko Murobushi and developed it with my method.“ Yukio Suzuki

1. Try to know , hear, feel your body.
2. Develop your body to connect Dance.
3. Catch the moment of becoming dance.

You will only need a little space to dance with comfortable clothes.

About Yukio Suzuki :
Yukio Suzuki is a dancer and choreographer who started studying Butoh at Asbestos Studio in 1997. He performed in works by artists and companies such as Ko Murobushi and Megumi Nakamura. He started his own company in 2000 which has been gaining international attention for the documentary touch of Suzuki’s direction and choreography. In his merge of Butoh and contemporary dance he is interested not in the technique but in the character of the language created. In 2008, he was awarded “Choreographer of the Next Generation (Grand-prix)” Award at Toyota Choreography Award 2008. And in 2012 he took part in Danse Elargie 2012 at the Theatre de la Ville in Paris, where he placed among the top ten.
