Sifting, subtle/sparks/slow with Kate Seethaler
sifting, subtle/sparks/slow with Kate Seethaler (60 min), via @freeskewl
CLASS: We will attempt to nourish and quell our nervous systems through a variety of movement techniques. We will bounce, shake, sway, rock, slo-mo shift, slow time, slow our thinking, settle. There will be ample space for exploding out of our cocoons as needed, as well as moments to cozily crawl into them–in whatever shape they take for each of us–should that bring comfort. There will be time to fall and also time to get centered. We will delight in the simple magic of our bodies and minds and spirits as we move in community with one another.
BIO: Kate Seethaler lives on Lenape land in Philadelphia, PA. She/they is/are a choreographer, performer, educator, improviser, movement artist, dog mom, pregnant human.
PAYMENT: Kate will submit all donations from this class to the gofundme campaign for Spirits Up! Black Wellness Space. (https://www.spiritsup.life) “Spirits Up! stands for collectively working to heal the black community through yoga & meditation, by any means necessary. Spirits Up! is setting out to bring a wellness center to Germantown, Philadelphia, which will provide yoga, meditation, and holistic healing for the black community. Part of this money raised will also go to a scholarship to help Sudan and many other people of African descent receive yoga training and certification in various locations. Historically and presently, there have not been many yoga spaces filled with black faces. Representation matters, especially when diving deep into meditation and spiritual practices. Please assist us in enriching healing practices within our own community and provide tools for personal liberation, as well as a collective black liberation.”
