The following are multi-day virtual dancing opportunities with open enrollment that are intended for adults. (* indicates drop-ins permitted)
WEDNESDAYS & FRIDAYS, OCTOBER 7, 9, 14, 16, 21, 23, 27, 30
This Afro series will focus on foundational movements, groove, technique, drills and some light choreography. Participants must sign-up for all 8 classes, but the series much be purchased as a whole. All class recordings will be made available for playback.
OCTOBER 31 - NOVEMBER 1, 2020 (12 PM - 7 PM EDT)
The Space Carcasses workshop will invite participants to explore psychosomatic shifts experienced in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and the national reckoning over racial injustice. Participants will be asked to engage their body as a reference point for the experience of space as defined by architecture, by the objects and the utilizations that they share that space with, and by their intentional connections to one another, across distances and through the medium of video and online communication.
NOVEMBER 2, 4, 9, 11, 16, 18, 30; DECEMBER 2, 7, 9, 14, 16
This class helps students build a foundation in Afro movement focusing on groove, basic moves, technique, drills and some light choreography. Students will purchase the series as a whole but can drop in. All classes are recorded and sent out for playback!
SATURDAYS, NOVEMBER 7, 14 & 21 (11AM - 2PM EDT)
This three-day workshop will be led by choreographer Anabella Lenzu and photographer Todd Carroll. The objective of the course is to gain an understanding of choreographing for the camera and the choreography of the camera when recording dance for all screens. Explore how to adapt, extract and see choreographic material transform from 3D to 2D.
MONDAYS, NOVEMBER 30, DECEMBER 7 & 14
This catch-all class for dancers, actors, and musical theatre lovers will include a full body warm-up, classical jazz technique exercises, and an ending combination--all to the sound of your favorite show tunes!
